Critique for Golden Retrievers Special Awards Classes 19/11/2017

I would like to thank The Golden Retriever Club for this judging appointment. I had a super entry with some wonderful dogs to go over. Unfortunately placing 5 doesn’t always tell the whole story as there was quality throughout all the classes beyond the 5 placings and I thank you all for bringing your dogs under me to be judged.

P (19/4a) 1 Mrs J Jackson-Haines Leighsham in the Summer Time (B), A superb class of puppies with quality throughout. At just 6 months this lovely girl caught my eye, just right for me for her age, clean outline with a beautiful mid gold coat, very balanced for one so young that also didn’t disappoint on the move keeping a good top line as she moved effortlessly around the ring. Very feminine in looks with superb pigment and soft expression. Good length of neck in to well laid back shoulders, tight elbows leading down to a straight front and perfect tight feet, good angulation on the rear end with straight hocks.

  1. Mrs M Joy’s Shardanell Whoopsa Daisy (B) At 11 months this young lady is maturing nicely, pale girl with good quality coat, sweet expression with correct lay back of shoulder, correct length of upper arm with good bone throughout, very balanced and moved correctly with positivity and drive. An excellent outline with nothing overdone.

G (11/5a) 1 Miss P Hills Tamniarn Forget Me Not to Sandula JW (B) So naturally balanced and shown so well. In superb coat and condition, the straightest of fronts leading down to tight cat like feet, wonderful soft expression whilst looking up at her handler. Good length of neck leading down to excellent shoulder placement. Superb topline when both stood and on the move. So correct and positive in her movement and had no hesitation giving this girl the class.

  1. Mrs S Tracey’s Denicol Chinese Whispers (B) Another quality girl just lacking a bit of coat against the winner of the class. For me the right size for a bitch with nothing overdone, feminine head with lovely expression, strong neck in to well placed shoulders, excellent in top line right to the tip of her tail. Straight front and rear assembly with a good clean outline on the move.

O (15/3a) Very close run class with quality throughout all 11 dogs

1 Mrs A Keightley’s Goldlyn Go Roaming To Richana JW (D) For me this boy is just right in size and balance, judged him as a junior and he hasn’t disappointed as he has matured, in good coat and condition, typical soft expression with masculinity to boot, excellent shoulder placement with straight front, super clean outline with an excellent top line both stacked and on the move. Moved out positively and correctly.

  1. Mrs L Wedges’s Riverscharm Mr McGregor JW (D) Again another boy I judged at a younger age and has matured so well, good clean outline showing all the positives of this boy, masculine in head and expression, good reach of neck in to well placed shoulders, well angulated front and rear assembly and moved out well and correctly.
