Golden Retriever Club Ch Show 11th July 2021

Bitches

A lovely entry with some very close decisions in some classes. Nice to see so many feminine bitches, a few shorter on the leg for perfect balance and a few with very trimmed undercarriages. Sad to see several exhibits with the lead around their ears before moving but were  asked to release it, not appropriate for any dog let alone a golden. Coats varied on the day and in some strong classes that had to be taken into account.

VETERAN (7 years +) BITCH  (7 Entries, 2 Absent)

1st   Mell Mr ML & Mrs HJ   MELOAK LILY THE PINK

Headed a lovely class. Quality girl with the most super outline,Lovely head and expression, so well balanced throughout. I loved her as a young puppy and although she has taken time to mature she is finally the finished dog. She is a very sound mover and this combined with her overall quality won her the Reserve CC

A rather out of coat girl, but whose movement was excellent and combined with a very nice out line, easily identified today, gave her this place. She has very good front and hind angulation and a level top line

Good length of neck combined with a good layback of shoulder , good bone and feet, strong hindquarters and a good turn of stifle. Not quite as steady in hind movement as one at present but no doubt that is related to her age ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍

1st   Wooden Mrs P   CATENAE CANDY FLOSS AT SALAKO

This bitch is so well balanced and stands naturally four square, Very sweet head and expression good front and hind angulation which gave her very sound movement , straight front with good bone. Handler needs a little more practice to get the best from her but learnt later it was her first time handling her. She moved beautifully to win Best Puppy in Show with my co-judges agreement

This girl won a best puppy under me last time I judged and my opinion of her has not changed. She is still so well balanced and very sound on the move, Nice head and expression , good length of neck into well laid shoulders, level top line . Not quite in her best coat today but what she did have was very well presented and she was well handled

Like this girl who was the dam of 3rd in minor puppy and has passed on her lovely front construction and overall balance. She has the best of top lines  straight front well turned stifles and has strong hind quarters. Just a fraction longer than 1

LIMIT BITCH  (17 Entries, 1 Absent)

1st   Neil Miss M   MOLOKO HOOTENANNY

I love the femininity of this bitch, no mistaking her for a dog, lovely head and a very soft expression so well made all through. In lovely coat and  condition. She is so well balanced and when she does  move is a sound  mover. In the challenge she did not move with any drive or enthusiasm and it was a  shame, as had she moved she would have been a contender for the reserve CC

‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍2nd   Haxton Mrs C   DANTASSIE DISADORA

Really liked this girl so balanced throughout  good front construction Level top line good turn of stifle , sound mover Just preferred the head of one in the final choice but close up to 1

‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍3rd   Hush Mr W & Mrs S   BENROWAN ESPRIT ‍‍‍

OPEN BITCH  (3 Entries, 0 Absent)

Three quality bitches in this class

1st   Lewis Mrs S & Miss M   LOVEHAYNE BIJOU AMONG FAIRWINDS JW

To me this bitch stood out today. She caught my eye when she entered the ring and I was not disappointed when I went over her. Very  nice head and expression ,good length of neck and lay back of shoulders straight front although her handler tends to stand her too wide in front, level top line ,strong quarters good bend of stifle, good bone  and so full of quality. She was shown in beautiful coat and moved with great drive which she maintained until the end of the day. Delight to award her what I later learnt was her 3rd CC to give her a well deserved Sh Ch title. CC, Best bitch, Reserve Best in Show and Best opposite sex in Show

‍‍‍‍ 2nd   Rodgers Mrs MJ   ROJILLAIR EVENING MAGIC OF ODARLA JW

In many ways unlucky to meet the winner in such great form. A very sound balanced bitch, excellent top line very strong quarters and a good turn of stifle. Another one that moved with great drive but I felt could have been moved slightly slower to really demonstrate her excellent movement. Close up for the Reserve CC

‍‍‍‍‍ 3rd   Simms-Stelling Mrs PA   POPPYGOLD FIRE OPAL WITH STVINCENT ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍‍‍‍

‍‍‍‍‍‍2nd   Wheeldon Mr M & Mrs I    CH THORNYWAIT FAME ‘N FORTUNE FOR CATNNELS

Another lovely champion bitch whose lovely  free striding and sound movement stood out today. She is also well constructed but just  preferred the overall balance of the winner.
