Working Results 2024

REPORT 0N GRC WORKING TEST & BBQ – 27th April 2024

On Saturday, The Golden Retriever Club, held their breed only Working Test & BBQ at Popes Oak, West Grinstead, East Sussex, and there by kind permission of Sheila Chessell.

Judges: Roger Wade, Robert Worrall, Bill Gardiner and Sam Kirkham

It is always a pleasure to go to the beautiful Popes Oak.   A special thank you to Shiela for so generously allowing us to use this fabulous ground.  Water, woodland, fields, ditches, and varied cover,  all make for the setting  of good challenging and interesting tests.

Blessed by the good weather gods for most of the day, and supported by my supper efficient team of helpers, some of whom don’t even own golden retrievers but just wanted to see them work, a good turn our of competitors, some traveling from as far as Scotland, Belgium and the Netherlands, we all had a really excellent day.  

The judges saw some great dog work and were very supportive of some of the Novice Dog Novice Handlers, some of whom were competing in their first working test.  The BBQ tea and cakes were delicious and thank you to brother Charlie for his sterling cooking skills.

So on behalf of myself, The Golden Retriever Club and all competitors, an enormous and very heart felt THANK YOU to the Judges, Team Admin, Team Catering and Team Chucker and Stewarding, for all working brilliantly and tirelessly to make the day a great success.
